The Sizwe Sibiya Journalism Academy (SSJA) was established to run training programmes and apprenticeships for unemployed or under-trained aspiring journalists. The focus of the SSJA’s training is media content skills, including reporting and writing skills, digital video editing, an introduction to content management systems and the use and risk of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools. One of the aims of the SSJA is to equip aspiring media professionals with the skills to secure work in a sector which will be exposed to significant changes – and a more challenging employment environment – because of the advent of AI.
