Cape Town Press Club

The Cape Town Press Club is the oldest press club in South Africa and celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2026. The Press Club creates a collegial space where media – from senior editors to newcomers and students – can engage in on-the-record, face-to-face interactions with high-profile speakers, often in politics but also across other sectors, as well as each other across newsrooms. This includes debates on topical issues and facilitating a plurality of narratives on important national matters. By hosting events that are on the record, they help build a culture of informed, sharp interrogation, in which journalists can ask difficult questions and elicit honest answers in the public domain and creates an opportunity for younger journalists to learn from veterans.
